Truly a magnificent collection of his life’s work in photography

We celebrate the life of Ronald (Ron) Reeves Shufflebarger, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in Eugene, Oregon. Ron spent his formative years on a farm in Atchison, Kansas, and was a long-time resident of Winfield, Kansas. His early connection to the land blossomed into a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.

After honorably serving in the military, he pursued a career in sales and eventually expressed his creativity and earned a living through the design and construction of furniture, crafting pieces that were both practical and works of art. His artistic spirit also shone through his professional photography, where he skillfully captured the beauty of nature, expansive landscapes, and the meaningful moments of daily life.

Ron found joy in walking with his dogs and, for many years, was an enthusiastic cyclist, tackling impressive 100-mile rides through the Flint Hills of Kansas. Beyond these interests, Ron was an advocate for a more equitable and sustainable world, and enjoyed sharing the teachings of the Baha'i Faith on racial justice and the oneness of mankind.

Above all, Ron treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 55 years, Le Shufflebarger, his devoted partner in life. His memory will be cherished by his two daughters, Stacy Townsley-Kestin (Jeff Kestin) and Crista Johnson (Steve Johnson), his sister Karen Riepenkroger, and his grandchildren, Liah, Carter, Toby, and Greeley.

Ron's practical and inventive spirit, and his steadfast dedication to his values will be remembered with love and admiration by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
